The Mirth O Matics performed at a benefit show for the Carl Cherry Theater in Carmel, CA last evening. Peter Coyote, renowned actor, narrator and writer joined the troupe for a fun game, then read from his soon to be released new book.

Monterey iMPRoV will be helping local Monterey peninsula high school students competing in Poetry Out Loud (POL), a nation-wide poetry reading competition which starts at local high schools on up to the national championship.
We’ll be working with young people with poem selection, strengthening delivery and stage presence skills. Check out the local chapter on facebook. We like likes!
Monterey Improv will be working with My Museum, Monterey County Youth Museum staff and parents in areas of team-building and improv games. How about this for an inspiring motto, “My Museum where children play to learn and parents learn to play.”

As always, it’s been a funny summer of improv and we’re keeping it going. Hope to see you at a show.
Let improv happen.
Saturday night was Gerry’s final show as Mirth’O’Matics’ director … manager … water boy … counselor … secretary … general trouble-maker which leads to owner.
At the bewitching hour of 12:00:01am, Sunday Aug.3rd, the reigns for the Mirth-O-Matics were turned over to Dr. Richard Westbrook who will do a fantastic job leading this fun band of zany Mirthers. Their first show will be on Saturday August 16 at the Treasures Roadhouse Theater in Corralitos. Change is good and we’re expecting some new twists!
For Gerry and Monterey Improv, it’s time to pursue other improv adventures. You’ll see Gerry around town performing, as well as leading improv and acting workshops and classes. Stay tuned for upcoming events!
The Mirther’s lightened things up last Saturday night as they dove into the world of fish and turned audience suggestions into ‘reely’ funny scenes. The Green Chalk Contemporary invites the public to tour the Fresh Fish exhibit which explores the current social, economic and ecological status of fish and our oceans.
We’ll be docking tomorrow night at 8pm at Green Chalk Contemporary and make stuff up to the theme of Something’s Fishy, all part of the Fresh Fish exhibit by Michael Kerbow. So grab a chum, cast your line into the Mirthy waters and laugh at the catch of the day, Sat. Aug. 2, 8pm. 616 Lighthouse Ave. New Monterey (next to Hula’s). greenchalkcontemporary.com 831 718 7232. Limited seating.
Mirth’O’Matics Show “Something’s Fishy” at Green Chalk Contemporary. 616 Lighthouse, New Monterey. Saturday, Aug 2nd at 8:00PM. $15.00. Seating limited. Something Fishy is in honor of the Michael Kerbow exhibit, “Fresh Fish.”
This will be the final show for Gerry Orton, creator of Mirth’O’Matics. He is retiring as the troupe’s director and manager and handing the reigns to Mirther, Richard Westbrook, effective Aug. 3. Join us for this special show!
