Mirth-O-Matics under New Leadership

Standard

Saturday night was Gerry’s final show as Mirth’O’Matics’ director … manager … water boy … counselor … secretary … general trouble-maker which leads to owner.

At the bewitching hour of 12:00:01am, Sunday Aug.3rd, the reigns for the Mirth-O-Matics were turned over to Dr. Richard Westbrook who will do a fantastic job leading this fun band of zany Mirthers.  Their first show will be on Saturday August 16 at the Treasures Roadhouse Theater in Corralitos.  Change is good and we’re expecting some new twists!

For Gerry and Monterey Improv, it’s time to pursue other improv adventures.   You’ll see Gerry around town performing, as well as leading improv and acting workshops and classes.  Stay tuned for upcoming events!

Maria Dawson

One of Women Of Whimsy’s original members, Maria was a member of Monterey’s Playback Theater, a troupe that improvised scenes based on the life stories of audience members. Maria maintains a wall of silence about her nefarious theatrical beginnings – “Improv just sort of happened to me – spur of the moment, if you know what I mean.”  However, her high energy and bigger than life stage presence reveals her love of making things up on the spot. Favorite things:  being an elementary school drama teacher, the Beatles, gardening, and Milk Duds.

Eileen met Improv at high school in the 80’s, where they fell in love. They courted for several years at Seattle TheatreSports and later in life, at D.C. ComedySportz. Improv continued to follow her which led to marriage, although nobody was invited to the wedding. She emphatically states Improv has changed her life in wonderful ways, adding, “I truly believe there is an Improv out there for everyone.” She also likes apples and bananas.
